Vancouver police are warning the public that a convicted sex offender who was released from prison Friday still poses a "significant risk" to girls.

David Emlyn Akerman, 69, served a 30-month sentence for two counts of sexual assault and two counts of invitation to sexual touching involving children, police said.

He's now living in a halfway house in Vancouver.

Police said Akerman must:

Not contact girls under the age of 16 years.

Not attend places where children under the age of 16 are likely to be present.

Report all relationships with adult women to his parole officer.Akerman is Caucasian, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 166 pounds, with grey hair, blue eyes and a tattoo of the letter A on his right forearm.
