Three B.C. judges dismiss sex offender's appealLangley AdvancePublished: Tuesday, August 07, 2007LANGLEY - The sex offender who kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old Langley girl has seen an appeal of his sentence dismissed. Three judges of the B.C. Court of Appeal turned down Brian Abrosimo's bid to have his sentence reduced from 18 years. Because of time served awaiting trial, Abrosimo is expected to serve 14 years in total, followed by a 10-year monitoring period. He may spend much of that time in halfway houses or under close scrutiny. Abrosimo ran two Langley girls off the road with his van in 2004, kidnapped the younger of the two and took her to a vacant lot in Cloverdale to assault her. In a separate incident, he also kidnapped and assaulted an adult prostitute in Surrey. At Abrosimo's trial in 2006, Justice Suzanne McGregor gave him a sentence one year longer than the Crown prosecutor had requested. |
